The 3-days conservation workshop – organized by the Endowment Fund Trust for Preservation of the Heritage of Sindh (EFT) at Mausoleum of Mian Ghulam Shah Kalhoro, Hyderabad and White Palace, Kot Diji from January 12-15, 2016, is a practical training program designed to improving practice and understanding of principles, methods, materials and techniques of conservation of historic buildings relevant to the specific environments in Sindh.
The program also gives young conservationists, civil engineers, architects, masons, plasterers, kashigars and fresco painters a unique opportunity to gain hands – on experience in documentation of historic buildings, on-site wet chemical test of historic lime mortars, preparation and application of lime & gypsum mortars, bonding of new and old brick/stone masonry, interlocking and overlapping in masonry, mechanical damp proofing and water proofing of historic structures, making and fixing of kashi tiles and fresco paintings.
Funded by the EFT, the workshop will be conducted by the leading conservation experts like Kamil Khan Mumtaz.
Participants of the Workshop will be provided local hospitality.
The workshop is available to: In-service personnel (Directors, Curators, Conservators, Architects, Field Surveyors of Heritage related Departments), Institutions involved in teaching archaeology, conservation and field surveys and, professionals associated with the field of conservation of cultural heritage and, artisans including masons, plasterers, kashigars and fresco painters.
